Jay Kenoff

A founding partner of Kenoff & Machtinger, LLP, Jay Kenoff practices principally in the area of entertainment transactional matters providing services to individuals and companies in the fields of motion pictures, television, music, concerts, post-production services, publishing and new media. He is also experienced in real property, business and corporate law and banking.

Mr. Kenoff is co-author of ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY CONTRACTS: NEGOTIATING AND DRAFTING GUIDE, Vols. 1 &2, “Motion Pictures”, published by Matthew Bender. His articles have been published in Entertainment Law Review and Entertainment Law and Finance, and he is on the Board of Contributing Editors of the latter publication.

Mr. Kenoff has served as a judge pro tempore and as a court mediator in Los Angeles County and has been a professor of law at Northrop University Law School.

Born in Los Angeles, April 29, 1946, Mr. Kenoff was educated at UCLA (A.B., magna cum laude, 1967), Harvard Law School (JD, 1970) and University of Southern California (MS, 1974). Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Kenoff was on active duty for four years (1970-1974) in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps of the U.S. Navy Reserve. He is a recipient of the Freedom Foundation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal, completing his service as a Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.

He was admitted to the bars of , District of Columbia (1970); California (1971); U.S. Court of Military Appeals (1973); U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit (1974); U.S. District Court, Central and Southern Districts of California (1975).
